Murthy Udupa's Running Journey

Running is a sport dear to me, and I have been pursuing it since 2009. I started to seriously train beginning of 2012/13 and that’s when things started to improve but none of the improvement was without consequences – I was injury prone and recovery from a hard workout was always a challenge. The general advice given to me was – to start strengthening and so I did. That did have some effect on reducing injuries, but RECOVERY remained a challenge.  

Following popular advice, I tried WHEY PROTEIN, and while it does work for some, I wasn’t one of them. I often had stomach discomfort and felt it did not suit me. It was then I started earnestly searching for some quality PROTEIN that would be easily digestible. I knew about UNIVED as I did use their GELS and came across their PEA PROTEIN. Being a vegetarian, I thought I should try this out and so I did. 

I have been using PEA PROTEIN (RAW) since 2018. Initially, I could not make out if this had a positive impact on me, but one thing was certain. I did not have any issues digesting it. Over the last 3+ years of using this product, I observed: 

  1. My recovery has been excellent and am able to put in 12/14 hours a week spread over 6 days a week for both running and gym work 
  2. My strength/race performance has certainly improved and is on the upswing 
  3. Surprisingly, I have lost weight with no adverse impact (I used to be 72kg and am down to 62. Have touched 58 kg at peak training and before racing. 

OVERALL, I am very pleased that this product works for me and if you are in a similar situation, it is worth a try but be patient and train consistently and results will come.
