Is your doctor aware of an alternative to cholesterol-lowering synthetic statins? Red Yeast Rice is a natural statin that helps manage your cholesterol without side effects.

Statins are commonly looked at as the first line of defence employed against harmful cholesterol levels – however, statin therapy often comes at a price. Venkatraman Pichumani, a heart bypass patient, was on statins for five years. During that period he experienced two problems – muscle soreness and memory formation issues. The former affected his athletic abilities; while the latter hampered his retention ability. Concerned about the side–effects statins that synthetic statins carried,he decided to explore the benefits of Unived's RYR (Red Yeast Rice) under the supervision of his cardiologist – Dr. Contractor who was then practicing at India's best private cardiac hospital, the Asian Heart Institute.

Before Venkat began taking Unived's RYR Dr. Contractor designed a protocol that required him to go through a flush-out period with no statins.

During these two weeks, Venkat took no medication, and as a result his LDL rose to 163. He also measured his lipid levels during this time.

After the flush-out period, Venkat began Unived's RYR. After 12 days of being on Red Yeast Rice, his LDL levels dropped from 163 to 76. A month later, he decided to reduce the dosage from the suggested dose of four a day to two capsules a day. His next lipid profile test showed that his LDL levels started increasing so he upped his intake to three a day, as he was very keen on taking the amount required by his body based on his lifestyle. The lipid profile below charts the transition in his LDL levels in response to the dosage of RYR.

Venkat has now calibrated his dosage to three capsules a day, which is what he has been taking for the last three years. Venkat is extremely happy with Unived's RYR. His cholesterol is in check, and he is free of the various pre-loaded side-effects that synthetic statins carry with them. With side-effects like muscle soreness eliminated, he has been able to train unfettered. Venkat now runs a half marathon every month, and is one of the most active runners in Mumbai's running community – a fact that amazes most people when they learn that he has had a heart bypass. He credits this freedom to train and run to Unived's RYR.

Venkat has recommended Unived's RYR to several heart patients, and believes that every heart patients and doctors need to be aware of this safe and natural alternative to synthetic statins.
