Why we built it.
A year before the gel, in 2014, Unived launched a pre-during-post powder system for endurance — hydration, fuelling, and recovery designed for runners and triathletes. The athletes using it were us. We were training hard, racing ultra-marathons, and the next gap was obvious from the inside: there was no Indian-made energy gel. The imported options were expensive, often unavailable, and formulated for industry-standard targets that did not account for the sweat rates of Indian endurance racing.
So we built one.
It took the rest of 2014 to formulate. Electrolytes were set for tropical sweat conditions, not temperate ones. The texture was engineered as water-based and pourable — usable mid-race without a water chaser. Gel 100 launched in 2015.
It was India's first.
Three formulations.
A decade on the start line.
The original RRUNN Energy Gel launched in 2015. The Elite Gel followed in 2017. In 2023, both were renamed to reflect caloric density — Gel 100 and Elite Gel 180 — and placed within a complete endurance range. The formulations have not changed since 2017. Elite Gel 360 launched in 2025 as the third SKU, built for maximum-output racing.
India's first locally-made energy gel, launched under the RRUNN brand with a simple carbohydrate formula — single-source glucose, no dual-carb ratio. Water-based texture, electrolyte profile set for tropical sweat conditions. Launched with two flavours; a third added in 2016.
A second formulation built for athletes racing beyond four hours — IRONMAN, 100-mile ultras, multi-stage events. 2:1 maltodextrin-to-fructose ratio engaging both intestinal sugar transporters, allowing carbohydrate oxidation rates above the 60g/hr ceiling of single-source gels. Higher beta-alanine, same water-based texture. Alongside this launch, the original RRUNN Energy Gel was rebranded as simply Gel — a cleaner two-product line: Gel (100 kcal) and Elite Gel (180 kcal, 2:1 ratio).
Between 2017 and 2022, both formulations remained stable. Sachet packaging was refined for race-day handling, the flavour count expanded, and the supply chain matured. The actives stayed where they were.
The line was renamed to reflect caloric density — Gel 100 (100 kcal, the original formulation) and Elite Gel 180 (180 kcal, the long-course formulation). The formulations did not change. The rebrand was accompanied by a full endurance range: Elite Drink Mix 160 and Elite Drink Mix 320 (in-race carbohydrate drinks), Elite Recovery Mix, Elite Hydration Mix, and Salt Capsules — a complete fuelling system for endurance athletes at every distance.
360 kcal in a single 146g sachet. Built for multi-stage ultras, full-distance triathlons, and any event where carrying multiple gels is the problem. Same 2:1 maltodextrin-to-fructose ratio as Elite Gel 180, scaled for maximum caloric density. 800mg beta-alanine — the highest dose in the Unived gel range. Electrolytes vary by flavour: 1076mg (Black Cherry, Double Espresso) to 1480mg (Sea Salt Lime). Launched in three flavours.
What's actually in the gel. And why.
Three sachets, three calorie loads, one formulation principle: every active is dosed against a published clinical rationale. Sodium varies slightly across flavours where sea-salt variants carry higher values; potassium and magnesium are constant within each SKU. Spec values per sachet.

Formulation Standard No artificial colours. No proprietary blends that obscure what you're actually taking in. Every ingredient on the label is dosed against a published clinical rationale. Every batch is independently tested before release at TÜV SÜD, Bangalore Analytical, or Eurofins, with results published in the COA Directory.
