This is for you if

  • You're fuelling long or hard — marathon, ultra, long-course triathlon, big days on the bike — and want to hit 80–90g of carbohydrate per hour
  • You've bonked or gone hypo on glucose-only fuel and need multiple transportable carbohydrate to go higher without the GI blow-up
  • You sweat heavily and want serious sodium — up to 280mg per gel — not a token pinch
  • You want to place caffeine precisely across a race, choosing anywhere from 0 to 100mg by flavour

What changes, and when

  • 10 min before First gel about ten minutes before the run — carbohydrate on board as you start
  • Every 30 min One gel per 30 minutes delivers 90g of carbohydrate per hour from the 2:1 glucose:fructose blend — the top of the tolerable range
  • Through the effort 58mg magnesium, 100mg potassium and up to 280mg sodium per gel replace heavy sweat losses
  • Heat / heavy sweat Reach for Creamy Vanilla (280mg sodium) or Lime / Chocolate (228mg) when your sweat rate and the conditions are brutal
  • When the race bites Layer in caffeine — Caramel Cappuccino 35mg, Chocolate 50mg, or Double Espresso 100mg — through the back half

Key clinical outcomes supported

  • High-rate endurance fuelling — 45g carbohydrate per gel as a 2:1 glucose:fructose blend, enabling intakes up to ~90g/hr through two intestinal transporters
  • Reduced GI distress at high intakes — splitting the load across SGLT1 (glucose) and GLUT5 (fructose) lowers the osmotic and gut burden compared with glucose alone
  • Sustained power and delayed fatigue — carbohydrate during prolonged exercise is one of the most robust performance findings in sports nutrition
  • Serious electrolyte replacement — up to 280mg sodium, plus 58mg magnesium and 100mg potassium per gel, for heavy sweat losses over long events
  • Precise, timed caffeine — a 0-to-100mg spread across the range lets you place the ergogenic hit exactly where you want it

Dosage & Rationale

1
Gels
1 gel about 10 minutes before you start, then 1 gel every 30 minutes, with water — a fuelling rate of 90g carbohydrate per hour.

Why 90g/hr is possible here — The 2:1 maltodextrin-to-fructose blend uses two absorption pathways (glucose on SGLT1, fructose on GLUT5) instead of one. That lifts the ceiling from the ~60g/hr you get from glucose-only fuel toward ~90g/hr, and does it with less gut distress because no single transporter is overwhelmed.

Gut-train before you race on it — We'll be straight: 90g/hr is a high rate, and tolerance is trainable, not automatic. Introduce it progressively in your long sessions so your gut adapts. Racing at a carbohydrate rate you've never rehearsed is how good days go wrong.

Take it with water — GEL180 is concentrated. A few sips of water (or Unived Elite Drink Mix) with each gel support digestion and absorption and reduce GI risk. Don't chain gels without fluid.

Match electrolytes to your sweat — Sodium ranges from 150mg to 280mg per gel across the flavours. For long, hot or high-sweat efforts, favour Creamy Vanilla (280mg) or Lime / Chocolate (228mg); on cooler or shorter days the 150mg coffee flavours are plenty.

Caffeine strategy — Place caffeine deliberately: Caramel Latte (35mg), Chocolate (50mg) or Double Espresso (100mg), typically loaded into the second half of a long race. Count it toward your daily total — the performance range is roughly 3–6 mg per kg of body weight, with around 400mg/day a common general upper guide for adults.

About the beta-alanine — Each gel carries 400mg. Its ergogenic effect comes from chronic daily loading that raises muscle carnosine over weeks — it is not an in-race buffer. Across a long event the cumulative intake is meaningful toward that daily total, but a single gel does nothing acute; the 400mg dose is well below the level that causes the harmless tingling of large single servings.

GEL180 vs GEL100 — GEL180 is the high-carb, dual-source, higher-electrolyte gel built for 80–90g/hr on long or hard efforts. GEL100 is a glucose-based gel (25g) suited to a steadier ~50g/hr and shorter sessions. Many athletes carry both and match the tool to the day.

Loading Period: Per-session use

Acute carbohydrate fuel; no chronic loading required.

Safety & Competition Notes

  • Vegan — no animal-derived ingredients
  • 2:1 dual-source carbohydrate (glucose + fructose) engineered for high-rate fuelling
  • Up to 280mg sodium per gel — genuine electrolyte replacement, not a token amount
  • Caffeine you choose — four options from 0 to 100mg per gel
  • ⚠ Caffeine: Caramel Cappuccino 35mg, Chocolate 50mg and Double Espresso 100mg per gel. Count these toward your daily caffeine total, and avoid them late in the day if caffeine disrupts your sleep.

Gut-train the 90g/hr rate in training before racing on it — high carbohydrate intake is well tolerated only when built up progressively.

The caffeinated flavours are not suitable for children, or for anyone sensitive to caffeine, pregnant or breastfeeding — choose Creamy Vanilla or Lime and consult a practitioner.

High sodium — Creamy Vanilla carries 280mg per gel. If you restrict sodium for a medical reason, note the per-flavour figures and choose accordingly.

Always take with water; rehearse your full fuelling and hydration plan before race day.

Contains added nature-identical flavouring substances and preservatives (potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate).

Known medical condition or on regular medication? Consult a medical practitioner before use. Not for medicinal use.

Storage: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; keep out of reach of children.
