Why post breakfast? — B-vitamins absorb readily either with or without food, but breakfast dosing positions the B12 and folate where they support energy metabolism across the working day. Morning dosing also avoids any subtle sleep-onset interference some adults experience with B-vitamins taken late in the day.

Why one capsule daily? — B12 has a long enough half-life in the body that once-daily dosing is sufficient for maintenance. The body stores B12 in the liver for several years, but daily intake at the RDA level is required to maintain that store and replace what's used by methylation pathways.

Loading Period: 6–12 weeks for blood markers to reflect supplementation

If you've been on a strict vegan or vegetarian diet for many years without supplementing B12, you may be running on depleted stores even with apparently normal energy levels — vegans can be functionally B12-adequate for years before clinical symptoms appear, but methylmalonic acid (MMA) and homocysteine markers usually show the deficit earlier. A baseline blood test before starting is the most useful single piece of information you can have.

Take as directed with food. Generally well-tolerated. Consult your healthcare provider before use if you are pregnant, lactating, on prescription medication, or have any chronic medical condition.

Pregnancy: Folate requirements rise to 600mcg DFE in the first trimester. This product contributes 300mcg DFE — half the pregnancy target. Your prenatal vitamin likely contains additional folate; review total intake with your gynaecologist.

Methotrexate (cancer, severe psoriasis, autoimmune conditions): Methotrexate interacts with folate. The 300mcg DFE of L-5-MTHF is meaningful — consult your physician before starting daily use.

Metformin (diabetes): Metformin depletes B12 over time. Adults on long-term metformin frequently develop B12 deficiency, and supplementation is often beneficial. Mention to your physician as supportive information.

Already taking a multivitamin? If your multivitamin or Essential Protein already contains B12 and folate at full RDA, adding this product doubles those nutrients. Generally still within safe limits, but worth reviewing both labels.
