Elite Beet-420

Beetroot Concentrate · 420 mg Nitrate per Shot · TruBeet® · Sports Nutrition

Evidence: Moderate–High Vegan 420 mg Dietary Nitrate Standardized Beetroot Extract Caffeine-Free Single-Ingredient Vegan

This is for you if

  • You're an endurance athlete — runner, cyclist, triathlete — looking for a caffeine-free way to support performance and oxygen efficiency
  • You want a beetroot product that's standardized to a real, research-relevant nitrate dose (420mg), not an under-dosed beet powder
  • You'd rather not add caffeine before a session, or you want something that stacks cleanly with your caffeine rather than doubling up on stimulants
  • You want it clean and simple — one standardized ingredient, unflavoured, vegan, no fillers

What changes, and when

  • 30–45 min before Take one serving before your endurance activity, as directed — your body converts the nitrates toward nitric oxide over the following window
  • During the effort Improved blood flow and a lower oxygen cost of exercise can make a given pace feel more sustainable
  • With consistent use Research suggests nitrate benefits can build over several days of daily intake, not from a single dose alone
  • Any endurance session Research suggests nitrate benefits can build over several days of daily intake, not from a single dose alone

Note: Beet-420 works through the dietary-nitrate pathway: nitrate from beetroot is reduced (with the help of bacteria in your mouth) to nitrite, then to nitric oxide, which widens blood vessels and lowers the oxygen cost of exercise. It's one of the better-evidenced endurance aids — though, to be honest, response varies: recreational and sub-elite athletes tend to gain more than highly-trained elites, and some people respond more than others. It supports endurance as part of your training and race fuelling, not as a stimulant you'll feel kick in. Not a substitute for a varied diet.

Key Actives per Serving (1 Shot)

  • Beetroot Extract 6.5 g (Beta vulgaris Extract, standardized to 6.5% dietary nitrates — delivering 420 mg of dietary nitrates per serving). That's the entire ingredient list — a single, standardized beetroot extract, unflavoured.
  • Free from soy, dairy, sugar, nuts, gluten, artificial colours, fillers, emulsifiers and preservatives. 100% vegan.

Key clinical outcomes supported

  • Endurance performance — dietary nitrates are among the better-evidenced endurance aids in sports nutrition
  • Oxygen efficiency — nitrates can lower the oxygen cost of exercise, so a given pace can feel a little easier
  • Blood flow — via nitric oxide, which relaxes and widens blood vessels
  • Caffeine-free priming — a stimulant-free way to prepare for endurance, which stacks cleanly with caffeine if you want both
  • Whole-beetroot nutrients — the extract also contributes small amounts of electrolytes (sodium, potassium) and iron

Dosage & Rationale

1
Sachet
Mix one serving (6.5 g) into 250 ml of water — cold or hot — stir until dissolved, and drink 30–45 minutes before your endurance activity.

Why 420 mg of nitrates matters — Beetroot only helps if the nitrate dose is high enough. 420 mg (roughly 6.8 mmol) sits within the range shown to support endurance in the research — whereas many beet powders and juices are under-dosed or don't declare their nitrate content at all. Because this is a standardized extract, you get the same known dose in a small 6.5 g serving every time, rather than the variability of raw beet powder.

The mouthwash detail most people miss — Here's the part that genuinely changes results: the first step in turning dietary nitrate into nitric oxide relies on friendly bacteria on your tongue. Antibacterial mouthwash — and to a lesser extent brushing right before — wipes those bacteria out and can blunt the whole effect. So take Beet-420 before you brush or rinse (the morning dose before brushing is ideal), and avoid antibacterial mouthwash around the times you're using it.

Caffeine-free by design — There's no stimulant here, which is deliberate. It won't affect your sleep, and it stacks cleanly with a coffee or a caffeinated gel if you want both a nitric-oxide and a caffeine effect — two different systems, no doubling-up on stimulants.

Be realistic about response — Nitrate supplementation helps some people more than others. Recreational and sub-elite athletes tend to see more benefit than highly-trained elites (whose bodies are already efficient), and individual response varies. Trial it in training before you rely on it for a race.

Single dose vs consistent use — A dose before a session can help acutely, but the evidence also supports taking nitrate daily for several days leading into a key event, letting the effect build. Either way, keep it around your endurance work rather than as an everyday habit for its own sake.

How it fits the range — Beet-420 is the dedicated, higher-dose nitrate product (420 mg). If you use Elite Performance Protein, note that it already includes a smaller beetroot-nitrate dose (100 mg from TruBeet®) — so account for both if you're stacking them on the same day.

Loading Period: Acute (per dose) or 5–6 day loading

Single-dose effect peaks 2–3 hours post-ingestion. Loading over 5–6 days produces cumulative benefit; some athletes prefer the loaded approach for important events.

Safety & Competition Notes

  • Caffeine-free — no stimulant; won't affect sleep and stacks cleanly with caffeine
  • Single, standardized ingredient — beetroot extract delivering a research-relevant 420 mg of nitrates
  • Vegan · free from soy, dairy, sugar, nuts, gluten, artificial colours, fillers, emulsifiers and preservatives
  • ⚠ Pink urine is normal: beetroot can temporarily tint your urine or stools pink or red (“beeturia”). It's completely harmless and is not blood.
  • ⚠ Skip the mouthwash: antibacterial mouthwash destroys the oral bacteria needed to convert nitrate to nitric oxide — using it around your dose can cancel out the benefit.

If you take blood-pressure medication, nitrate medication (e.g. for angina) or PDE5 inhibitors, have low blood pressure, or any medical condition, consult your doctor before use — dietary nitrates act on blood vessels and blood pressure.
Pregnant or lactating women, and anyone on regular medication, should consult a medical practitioner before use.
Take as directed — one serving before endurance activity. Do not exceed the recommended daily usage. Not for medicinal use; not a substitute for a varied diet.
Storage: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; keep the jar sealed and the scoop dry; keep out of reach of children.
