Turmeric for joint pain - two easy recipes

Apart from being an inseparable part of Indian cuisine, turmeric's anti-inflammatory properties also being sunshine to the lives of individuals suffering from joint pains of various kinds, especially those associated with arthritis.

From the humble dal to the most luxurious biriyani, turmeric is used to enhance the flavors of a plethora of Indian dishes. However, today we bring you 2 quick recipes to enjoy the goodness of turmeric with a fresh, rejuvenating twist. Both these recipes are vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan friendly.

Anti-Inflammatory Watermelon Pineapple Turmeric Smoothie
Ingredients:

2 cups watermelon

1 cup pineapple chunks

1 peeled and de-seeded orange

½ cup coconut milk

1½ cups coconut water

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

½ teaspoon turmeric powder

Directions:

Blend together, till smooth and frothy. Enjoy chilled. Tastes best after a great workout, or with a salad!

Anti-inflammatory Ginger Tea
Ingredients:

½ Tbsp turmeric powder

1 Tbsp fresh ginger, thinly sliced

A handful of chopped corriander

1 Tbsp olive oil 

The juice of 2 lemons

2-4 peppercorns

1 juiced orange, or a sweetener of your choice

Directions:

Boil all the ingredients together in water for 5 minutes. Strain, and enjoy this relaxing, detoxifying tea.
